Magic Knight Rayearth (魔法騎士 レイアース, Mahō Kishi Reiāsu) is a Japanese manga series created by Clamp, an all-female manga artist team consisting of Satsuki IgarashiAgeha OhkawaTsubaki Nekoi and MokonaAppearing as a serial in the manga magazine Nakayoshi from November 1993 to February 1995, the chapters of Magic Knight Rayearth were collected into three bound volumes by Kodansha, and published from July 1994 to March 1995.

A sequel was serialized in the same manga magazine from March 1995 to April 1996 issue, and was published by Kodansha in three bound volumes from to July 1995 to April 1996. 

Overview

The series follows three eighth-grade girls who find themselves transported from modern-day Japan into the magical world of Cephiro, where they are tasked with rescuing a princess.

Volume 1

The first volume opens up with three high scholl girls on a field trip to tokyo tower in where they are magically transported into the world of cerphiro. A land controlled by the will of those living in it and by the power of the one who acts as the pillar. The girls arrive and are suddenly confronted by a child looking mage who is muc older than he looks, he explains to them the situation cephiro is in and that they were called to the world by princess emerade to become the magic knights and save cephiro. The girls then travel to the forest of silence to meet with presera who will create them the weapons they need to battle zagato and revieeve the spirits. First they musy gather the needed minerals called esqudo to create these weapons which will allow the weapons to evolve with the user. The first volume ends with the girls being saved from a large monstor by a mysterious scared man.
